Vice President, Ways & Means (fundraising)

The VP Ways and Means will actively manage the fundraising/income for the PTA Unit and they work with several committee chairs. This person is responsible for actively overseeing all aspects of fundraising or income-producing aspects of the PTSA, including:

  • Standing Committee Chairs are:
    • Community Partners Fundraiser
    • Spirit Nights
    • Spirit Wear
  • Additionally, the Ways and Means VP must serve on the Budget and Calendar planning committees (1-
  • 5 hours each).
  • Serve as a signer on the bank
  • Must present a fundraising report for the year at the last PTSA membership meeting
  • The time estimate for this job is difficult to calculate. There is time put in when attending the vendor fair, emailing vendors to set up events, and with physical efforts, distributing and sorting, depending on the fundraiser.
Parliamentarian on the Academy Executive Board

The parliamentarian advises the board of directors and members on matters of parliamentary procedure and serves as a consultant, especially in a meeting, where only the chair has the authority to rule on questions of order or to answer parliamentary inquiries. A good candidate should attend all PTA membership and board meetings, one to two a month. Here are the duties at a glance:

  • Maintains copies of current governing documents - bylaws, standing rules, policies and parliamentary authority.
  • Provides guidance to members and board members on issues outlined in governing documents.
  • Ensure your Local PTA meets all requirements of the Standards of Continuing Affiliation.
  • Confer with president prior to the meeting regarding business items on the agenda.
  • Advises the president on points of parliamentary procedure.
  • Maintains a position of impartiality and does not make motions, enter debate or vote.
Learner Representative (1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th years)

Academy PTSA is made up of parents, teachers, community members, and students! This is a position where the student voice can be heard! We need a representative for each of the grade levels at Academy so everyone can know what's coming up for students and what needs there are so every student has a voice in our community! Student reps will attend board meetings as needed to report what is happening in their grade as well as to request funding for grade-level or school level special projects and events.

Teacher Appreciation

Help shower our facilitators and staff in appreciation with fun treats and surprises throughout the school year, as well as coordinate a full week of treats the first full week of May for National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Communications

Help with social media, photography, making signs for the front of the building, fliers, and more to keep students, parents, teachers, and staff up on what's happening at Academy. This is a support person for the VP of Communications.

Spirit Wear Coordinator

Do you love a good t-shirt? Then this is the job for you! This position will coordinate Academy spirit wear, shirts, PJ bottoms, socks, bags. We've tried it all! You will create the designs in coordination with a spirit wear vendor and sell the goods to our families at Academy. This job will start over the summer so that we can have spirit wear options at the beginning of school for our new Titans!

Community Partners Fundraiser

This person will reach out into the community to coordinate spirit nights (fundraisers where Academy PTSA receives a portion of the proceeds at a restaurant or venue), or payment for advertising exposure to the families at Academy.
