Hey seniors, want to make a memory?
Purchase a reserved parking spot that is yours for the school year after you paint it with your own design!
Purchasing a spot requires three things:
1. Purchase the reserved spot through Academy PTSA for $100
2. Purchase a yearly required PISD parking pass for $30
3. Purchase a student membership to Academy PTSA for $16 (the membership makes you eligible for scholarships the PTSA gives out in May!)
Once each of the 3 items above are completed, there is another task:
submit your parking spot design for approval
Once you have made the 3 purchases and had your design approved, you will see approvals listed in your student information section of the PTSA website.
To ensure your design was approved and your parking permit uploaded successfully, please follow these steps:
- Log into your account.
- Verify Approval
- In the Active Learners section, check your child's information, and under Parking Design Approval and PISD Parking Permit Receipt, you should see Approved for the design and yes for the PISD parking permit receipt.
If you don't find your approval status or parking permit receipt clearance after logging in, please upload the necessary documents as soon as possible. If you've already submitted a design/permit and haven't received an approval notification yet, email the chair at president@planoacademyptsa.org for further assistance.
Parking space assignments will be released only for students who have:
1. paid PTSA to reserve and paint a space
2. uploaded their PISD parking permit receipt
3. bought a PTSA student membership
4. had their design approved
- In order to see your parking space assignment, your account must be up to date: Log into the account you originally used to purchase your parking spot.
NOTE: You may need to reset your password in order to gain access. Do NOT create a new account. - Select Verify Approval
NOTE: If the Verify Approval button did not take you to the Step 2 - Student Information page, you are not logged into your account. - In the Active Learners section, look for Approved for your design and yes for the PISD parking permit receipt. If both are approved, your account is up to date and you will be able to see your spot assignment in this section after it is approved by Academy administration. The PTSA volunteer at the parking lot painting time will also have a list to verify your spot.
If you do NOT see the approvals, but believe you have uploaded both your design and PISD parking permit receipt, please email president@planoacademyptsa.org.
Don't paint unless you are certain it is your spot. Ask a volunteer in the lot or email president@planoacademyptsa.org.

ABOUT THIS SENIOR TRADITION
PTSA is offering a limited number of Senior Reserved Parking Spaces, exclusively available for online purchase. These spaces are reserved Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm. The cost per space is $100. You also must purchase the $30 PISD parking pass (on Parent Portal) and purchase a PTSA student membership for $15. By becoming a PTSA Student member, you automatically become eligible for scholarships that PTSA awards in May.
Please note that these parking spaces must be painted in order to remain reserved. Failure to paint your spot will make it available for anyone to park there. Only seniors are eligible to purchase a reserved parking space.
QUESTIONS
Before emailing us, please verify that your design has been approved and your parking permit has been uploaded successfully. You can confirm your approval status here.
While we aim to provide answers to the majority of your questions here, if you have any remaining inquiries, please feel free to email at president@planoacademyptsa.org.
SENIOR PARKING PAINTING TIPS
๐จ๐ The spot will take about a gallon of good primer (Valspar Season Flex Paint + Primer Exterior-gallon is currently $49.98 at Lowe's)
๐จ๐ The more colors your design has the more paint you will need to buy, and the higher the total cost of your spot
๐จ๐ chalk markers work great for outlining designs
๐จ๐Get your space taped and primed first night, base coat next morning, then you are ready to go
APPROVED PAINTING TIMES
If you cannot paint during these times, you must contact us and we will work with you to try to arrange something else. However, no one will be able to paint prior to these dates.
The approved times are:
- TBD
RULES
Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in forfeit of your space without a refund. Prohibited items will be painted over at the discretion of Administration. Disciplinary action may be taken, and you may forfeit your right to a parking space with no refund. At any time during the year, Administration reserves the right to remove the Senior Parking Space Painting if any violation occurs.
- Don't paint unless you are certain it is your spot. Ask a volunteer in the lot or email treasurer@planoacademyptsa.org. Read the stenciled number to verify it is your spot.
- Friday night (or whatever is the first time you are available to paint) you will need to plan to clean (scrape, sweep) and prime your spot. We recommend using paint that includes a primer as your base coat (this saves steps and cost).
- You must paint something on your spot. Otherwise, there’s no way to designate it as a reserved parking spot.
- Be courteous to your neighbors and to school property - don't get your paint and supplies outside of your area.
- Do NOT paint over the stenciled numbers at the bottom of your spot! The contract specifies that you are to leave a 4-inch border around your design and not paint all the way to the lines or on curbs.
- Parking designs must comply with all PISD Code of Conduct and all local laws including, but not limited to:
- No reflective paint, spray paint, or fluorescent paint
- No gang-style tagging
- No offensive language, pictures, or symbols
- No negative or rude language (Be nice; Show your Panther Pride)
- No images or references to drugs or drug paraphernalia
- No images or references to weapons
- No slander, slang, racism, or sexual connotations
- No partisan politics
- Web link names are not allowed.
- Use only my name or approved nickname. A boyfriend/girlfriend’s name is not allowed.
- You MUST paint the spot you purchased and are assigned and follow these guidelines.
- Parking spot will need to be primed with a product suitable for concrete before painting.
- Parking spot may need to cleaned prior to painting. This may include scraping, sweeping, etc.
- WATER-BASED EXTERIOR LATEX paint is the ONLY type of paint that can be used.
- If you choose, a clear sealant may be applied after you complete your design. (not required)
- All paint, supplies, and clean-up are the responsibility of the student.
- You must take all of your paint supplies with you anytime you leave the lot. You could be held responsible if you leave a can of paint that gets splattered on someone's car.
- You are responsible for following these rules and the consequences for infractions.
- NO BRICKS, ROCKS, OR STONES will be allowed to block off your space. The ONLY thing you can put around your design to try to block it off during the painting weekends are small flexible plastic cones.
- Painting is allowed on painting days only.
- Clean up anytime you are not painting. Supplies and trash are not to be left in the parking lot.
- Senior Parking Spots are NON-REFUNDABLE, as this is a PTSA scholarship fundraiser.
PAINTING TIPS
- You can only use WATER-BASED EXTERIOR LATEX paint.
- Your background color will also serve as the primer.
- You may want to prime and seal the spot if you want the design to last throughout the year.
- Some people have had success using paint like Valspar Season Flex Paint + Primer Exterior.
- Suggested tool:
- ๐งน Broom
- ๐๏ธ Paint scraper/brush
- ๐จ Primer coat
- ๐๏ธ Roller
- ๐๏ธ Long pole to attach roller to
- ๐จ Painter's tape
- On the first Friday night, focus on cleaning and prepping the spot. If possible, lay down a base coat that can dry overnight, getting you all set to paint your design on Saturday morning. Remember to stay protected from the sun, so bring sunscreen and stay hydrated with water! Some folks even bring pop-up canopies for extra shade.
- Lastly, don't wait until the last minute to buy paint. Head to Lowe's now and get everything you need well in advance. Their paint department knows their stuff!
- Stay hydrated!
PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The school requires the PTSA to have parent volunteers in the lots for supervision. We intentionally try to paint during cooler times of the day. We appreciate any volunteer support we can get.
Volunteer tasks are simple. You just need to make sure they are painting the correct spot and remind them to clean up after themselves when they are done. We make it easy by providing you a spreadsheet and map so that you can help direct the students to the right location.
Volunteers must have an approved 2024-2025 background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system completed. Learn how.
