What is a Motor Mum?

Other high schools have homecoming mums decorated with ribbons and trinkets that are purchased from speciality shops and worn for Homecoming. At Academy, we are RAISING THE BAR. Each Academy learner can preorder a blank 6” mum from PTSA and then create their OWN design with accessories and decor to “Titan-ize” their mum for our Academy Homecoming. See below for design categories! 

• Order a PTSA mum at lunch or online by Thursday, September 18. Suggested donation: $10*
• Decorate your mum to win in the category of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math - or Spirit of Academy.
• Wear your mum to school on Friday, September 26 and enter to be named winner!
• The sky is the limit to your design. You can put it on a ribbon and wear it like a necklace, pin it to your backpack, or wear it on your wrist. You can add lights, gears, paint, equations, poetry - your creativity is your only limit! (Well, and the school dress code - but you don’t need us to tell you that.)
• Why? Because it’s a challenge! Because it’s fun! And because any proceeds will benefit student activities at Academy and college scholarships for Academy learners.

*All learners who register for a mum will get a mum while supplies last, whether or not they make a donation. Donations will not only recoup the cost of the flowers, they will be used by PTSA to support our students.
